Potty Time

This week Kyle has started to show more interest in using the potty. He is becoming such a big boy! Now our bathroom is filled with potty seats, books, and stickers. If any of you moms (or dads) have any potty training secrets...fill me in!

Oh the joys of potty training!

Bring it on!

Fun times for you!!! :)

According to our doctor, boys do take a little long than girls normally, but not always. He urged us to wait until around 3 to start trying. He's seen so many frustrated moms that come in after introducing it too early than the boys go the opposite way and refuse to have anything to do with it for a long time.

I would say, run with it. If he's showing interest, let him try and get comfortable. However, the approach I am taking with our toddler is that I want him to be very successful in this process. He was interested around 2 years old but could not yet have the control all night and all afternoon for nap time. To me, that's not "potty trained" if he's still relying on pull-ups or diapers several times a day.

For us, we've been waiting until he's able to do it all by himself...yes, accidents will happen, but we want that to be the exception, not the norm.

I think within the next few weeks I will be spending all weekend focusing just on him and the new adventure of potty training. My sister and also a good friend have successfully done it with their kids in a day and has a wonderful book that goes with it.

Hope that helps! :) Good luck!

Good ol' potty training! Emma showed interest a little after she was one but it came and went so I just went with it but didn't push it. It wasn't until she came home from daycare dry for a few months but was too "lazy" to think about it at home that I really tried with her. At that point, she totally went with it and it wasn't any big deal or work. I firmly believe that when they are ready, it happens and there isn't any point in pushing it. So, I'd say go with it if he's liking it but I wouldn't make it a big thing so it becomes a control issue.

Also, a side note but honestly, at that age, I think it's easiser to have them in diapers! Believe it or not, it's a pain when you're in the middle of grocery shopping and they suddenly have to go, or you're driving somewhere, and they have to go. :) Good luck!!
